Josh Jones has been with BSE since mid-2019 on a project-by-project basis. Since his hire, he has been classified as either a UXO-T1 or T2. Josh has also stepped up and taken on additional work outside of his normal field responsibilities. Examples of his UXO duties are listed below as well as examples of Josh’s initiative for tasks outside of his normal field work to assist management.
Job Responsibilities UXO-T1 & T2

  • Investigate for and identify MEC and MPPEH, including explosive residues in media (e.g., soil), buildings, and installed equipment.
  • Move or transport MEC, MPPEH, and explosives.
  • Set up decontamination stations
  • Escort personnel as requested on a site containing suspected MEC
  • Inspect and document the explosives safety status of MPPEH
  • MCAS Yuma Grading Project 
    • Conducted repair of heavy equipment, significantly reducing costs to the project. Normal UXO techs do not repair and maintain equipment.
  • The Chocolates
    • Documented daily activities for future submittal to Contracting Officer’s Representative.
    • Acted as interface between BSE field personnel and Claremont Equipment.
    • Assisted SUXOS in maintaining equipment, significantly reducing project costs. As discussed above, UXO techs do not repair and maintain equipment.
  • SCI
    • Voluntarily remained behind to load equipment barge allowing personnel with families to return home for Thanksgiving.
  • General
    • Will be added to our explosives license. He has submitted the paperwork to ATF for approval.
    • Consistently receives praise from field supervisors regarding his performance, work ethic, capabilities, and positive attitude. He is an asset to the program and to the team.
  • Attending school for a bachelor’s degree

Notes

  • Mr. Jones is a self-starter that needs little direction to complete tasks. He has an excellent work ethic, attention to detail and is meticulous. He follows instructions perfectly, repeating them back to ensure he understands them. His written and oral communication skills are excellent.
  • Mr. Jones eagerly accepts additional responsibilities and tasks that exceed his current UXO technician level.
